FCORN Meeting Info for EXPO in Boston April 6, 2025 - 7:30pm

Dear AORN/FCORN Colleague:

     

Soon the time will be here when many of your perioperative colleagues will head to AORN's Seminar and Expo in Boston.  During that week in early April, the nurses from Florida will meet for an FCORN Business Meeting to elect several new officers and members of the Board.  [Expo Meeting details appear later in this email.]

 

We are hoping that you would consider stepping up to place your name on the ballot and consider one of the following positions: Chair-elect, Vice Chair, Secretary or Board of Directors.  Each position is a two-year term.

 

If elected to the position, office holders are expected to help lead the organization by participating in board meetings (in person or virtually); attend Expo if possible and make sound decisions to lead the council.  Lately we have been meeting once at Expo, once in Orlando in January, and once in-state in the fall.

 

Senior leaders are always available to mentor new members.  It is a great way to develop skills outside the walls of the OR setting and meet other leaders throughout the state and the USA.  If you have any questions and to obtain the form to place your name on the ballot please reach out to our chair, Holly Jezek by email:

As you all know over the last few years the number of days for Expo has decreased and getting to all the events is rather intense.  Based on feedback we received from the membership we have done our best to try to consider the schedule and still hold an FCORN Meeting that does not conflict with too many other events. Please note we no longer have a dinner at this meet as costs were becoming prohibitive and you asked us to be considerate of expenses.

We suggest you indulge in some of the hors d'oeuvres, drinks and other refreshments on the vendor floor during the opening event.  Then wander over to the FCORN meeting which we will make as brief as possible.  Elections will be conducted, a few committees will give any critical reports, and we will share information about the next Southeast Regional Meeting to be held in St Augustine in November, 2025.  Chapters are invited to share announcements about any events at this time.
