URGENT: Support Needed for Florida Surgical Smoke Bill (HB 93) – Hearing Tomorrow FEB. 26, 2026
Posted 2 days ago in Florida HB103 - Protection from Surgical Smoke
Attention Healthcare Professionals,
We have an important and time‑sensitive update regarding the Protection from Surgical Smoke Bill (HB 93). The bill has officially been placed on the agenda and will be heard tomorrow, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3:30 PM by the House Health and Human Services Committee. [
Location:
Morris Hall (17 House Office Building)
402 S Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL
This is a critical moment. After years of effort, AORN Government Affairs, the FNA Lobbyist, and dedicated nurses—particularly from Hillsborough County and Ft. Myers—have successfully helped move this bill forward. Securing this committee hearing has historically been one of the biggest hurdles.
We are calling on all RNs, CSTs, Surgeons, and Anesthesia Providers who are available to attend the hearing in person. Your physical presence in the room is essential to demonstrate to legislators the importance of surgical smoke protection for both patients and healthcare workers.
Financial Support:
AORN and FCORN are offering financial assistance to help with some travel expenses for those able to attend.
If you can join us, please reply to km2736@aol.com as soon as possible so we can coordinate attendees.
Thank you for your continued commitment to safety, advocacy, and advancing our profession.
